Here you will find a traditional village inn,
renowned in both Notts and further field, for its excellent food, fine cask ales
and friendly service. At The Dovecote you will find a traditional country pub
atmosphere where locals drink and eat alongside visitors all enjoying and
savouring the fine food and drink on offer.
We have recently resumed offering our letting rooms for a package which includes bed, continental breakfast in your room and an evening meal.
We are situated in the historic medieval
village of Laxton, at the heart of the last open field farming village in the
country, and close to Sherwood Forest, the traditional home of Robin Hood. From Laxton you will find easy access to the picturesque market towns of Newark-on-Trent, Retford and Southwell and the larger cities of Nottingham and Lincoln, plus events such as the world famous antiques fairs at Newark Showground or Swinderby. Just travel 5 minutes off the A1 at Markham Moor or Tuxford and travel back 500 years in time to the picturesque and historic village of Laxton.
